National Helpline Centre (NHC) for Violence Against Women and Children (109) A National Helpline Centre (NHC) for Violence Against Women and Children has been established in 19th June 2012. The women and children victims of violence, their relatives and other stakeholders can get necessary supports, guidance and information for various supports and services which are available throughout the country from Toll Free Helpline 109. Most of the calls received from victims and their families for legal help. Besides, calls received for medical and psychosocial services. The categories of violence are physical, sexual and mental. NHC takes necessary initiatives to prevent sexual harassment and child marriage. Besides, other calls were also received for financial assistance, information of other organization and training activities. The Toll Free Helpline has been printed in the back cover of 149 categories of textbooks from Class VI to Class XII. Mobile Apps JOY to Combat Violence Against Women and Children Access to Information (a2i) of Information and Communication Technology Division and the Multi-Sectoral Programme on Violence against Women of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has jointly developed a Joy Mobile Apps to combat violence against women and children. The Apps provides the opportunity of recordings the dialogue and images of the victims and perpetrators and send the information both audio and vedio as well as quick sms to the National Helpline Center 109, Police Super of respected districts, Deputy Police Commissioners( metropolitan area), nearby police station and three FNF numbers of Victim with GPS Location. Hon’ble State Minister of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki, MP inaugurated the Apps on 29 July 2018 as Chief Guest.
